Welcome to A.S. LONG Racing

David Donohue takes a first and a second in his first two races for A.S. Long Racing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

What a year so far!

What a first  year for A.S. Long Racing. It started off with a win for David Donohue in our first race at Laguna Seca, followed closely by a hard fought second, both in the Pirelli Cup race against a very strong field of Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsports.

Next up, we faced a huge challenge on the legendary Pikes Peak throughout the month of June. Veteran driver Fred Veitch performed exceptionally well the whole month through several days of testing and practice and brought the car home in a very respectable 9th place in class. Well done when  you consider that many of the cars in Time Attack 1 had an advantage of one, two, or three hundred horsepower. Nonetheless, Fred represented the team well.

In addition, team driver David Donner won the Time Attack 1 class in his Porsche GT3R, with a time of 10:00. Donner and his family were also inducted into the Pikes Peak Hall of Fame for their three generations of support and competitive spirit.

Just a few weeks ago, the A.S. Long team took on their second adventure with the the Pirelli Cup at Utah Motorsports Campus. The field had tightened and toughened through the summer months, manking for some hard racing. Though the car suffered some over-heating problems in 100+ degree temperatures of mid-August, driver David Donner drove great races on both days to come home with a pair of hard-earned fourth places.

At this writing the team is preparing for their final two events of the year. David Donohue will rejoin the team for the Pirelli Cup race weekend of September 9-11 at Sonoma Raceway in Northern California.

Donohue will again be driving for A.S. Long Racing at the team's final event of the season at Circuit of the Americas during September 23-25, just outside Austin, Texas.

Home base for the team is Colorado Springs, Colorado, though the car will be serviced and maintained throughout the racing season by Airpower Racing of Tooele, Utah. Dave Petitti, Director of Motorsport for Porsche of Colorado Springs, serves as Team Manager.

Introduced at the LA Auto Show, the newest offering from Porsche Motorsport delivers 385 horsepower from the normally-aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine mated to Porsche’s ultra-quick six-speed PDK transmission.

Team owner Scotty Long looks forward to continuing what is already a great first season, relying on proven Porsche technology and reliability and a stellar line-up of drivers includng Donohue, David Donner and Veitch.
